There are two main airports serving the San Francisco Bay area, Oakland International Airport (OAK) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

We recommend for convenience flying in and out of SFO if you can. Although flight costs can be sligtly cheaper from the more distant OAK, we have found that the hassle and expense of getting to and from there negates that benefit. In addition, we do not recommend attempting to fly in or out of San Jose Airport.

Both SFO and OAK are served by the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) from 6:00 am to approximately 11:00 pm straight to our recommended hotel or to downtown San Francisco. Alternatively you can pick up a taxi or a shuttle at the airport.

At the airport, there will be ample signage directing you to where to go to pick up your preferred mode of transportation. We do not recommend renting a car from the airport as there is extremely limited and expensive parking at the hotel ($40/night).

In general there is no need to reserve any transportation to your hotel for your arrival unless you have special needs that cannot be met by the above options.
